Exploration of Texture and Depth

This collection of work further explores assemblages of paper with contrasting textures, transparencies and patterns. Hand-made paper is pigment-dyed, and combined to form layered studies which allow the viewer to consider the added dimension of depth. The interplay of light and shadow will shift with the viewing position and time of day.

The Abstract Expressionism and Color Field studies pioneered by Mark Rothko and Clyfford Still are the inspiration for these works. The addition of depth and texture is intended to further explore these interactions with the viewer. Although these pieces are made of paper, I see them more as textiles, suggesting, movement, draping and flow in their execution.
